CEO of Space City Blades, Troy Beckman
Troy is a Houston native and received his Bachelor's in Fine Arts in Acting from The University of Houston for his education where he started his journey with stage combat and the Society of American Fight Directors.
From his first summer learning quarterstaff to attending the Texas Stage Combat intensive, Troy fought his way to be the Assistant Coordinator. Troy has a love for the SAFD and it's incredible Fight Family.
Using staged combat as a tool to elevate storytelling is something Troy wishes to share with all performers. Contact us today to work directly with him!
Texas Stage Combat Intensive
Troy is one of the Assistant Coordinators for the annual Texas Stage Combat Workshop. From attending in 2015 to teaching in 2019, now helping staff with the workshop. Troy hopes to spread the word about this incredible weekend-long workshop FULL of outstanding teachers that bring high quality movement training to Houston performers.
Iaido Training
Troy is a practitioner of Musō Jikiden Eishin Ryū (MJER) Iaidō through the Clear Lake Iadio school, part of the Beikoku Tendai Iaido Kai (BTIK). He has a deep love for the martial art as it challenges much of the European-devised weapon systems, always keeping in mind there is more training to be done.
